my amp (fender M-80 2x12 combo) has been giving me a problem as of late, when I turn it on and turn up the volume I can hear it being turned up but it has a REALLY distant sound, but if you tap it on the top(above the EQ housing) a few times the noise level jumps back to normal and then it starts to play fine, but every now and then the noise will decide to crap out and I have to tap it again to get it back to regular volume.......so any suggestions on what the fucks going on?

cool, you see I got this amp for 150 at a pawn shop not too long ago and I thought it mightve been something a bit more serious.....then again with my luck?? if its not too much could you elaborate more on how I would go about doing the cleaning? or where to find someone who can do it?

If you can get inside of your amp, clean the varibable resistors with Isopropryl alcohol...making sure you are getting inside the area that moves (like your volume control, etc). Spray it in those areas and wipe clean those areas which are feasible to wipe. Let it dry. It could possibly fix your problem.

Good luck!
