Ampeg Svt-450h

Anyone have any experience with this head? Looking for a good bass head for heavy gigging and touring with an underoathish band. We love the SVT sound but the solid state thing scares me a bit. Any suggestions for a comparable amp in or around that price range?

I gigged a Warwick with this setup thru an Ampeg 6x10 for quite awhile. Really served me well until I upgraded to an SVT-CL and 810e. I had numerous soundguys say it was the best bass tone they had heard at that particular venue.

the 450H isn't all that impressive. I once played thru one going thru an 8x10 cab at a gig... it honestly did not sound MUCH better than my cheap Ampeg BA-115 combo... and the small positive difference I heard, I'm sure would've been a lot due to the 8x10.
