Amplification...

Thank you all for your responses to my Floyd Rose question! I've changed the springs to match Roope/Alexi and I like it a lot. I also have my bridge floating where I want it. So since we have a lot of metal style guitar players here...and I apologize if this has been asked...what sort of amplification do you use? I currently use a Line 6 POD 2.0 with a little Peavey practice amp. I also have a Line 6 guitar port. Hopefully soon I will be buying an actual head and cab. I am wondering what everyone uses or reccomends to get a good metal sound. What sort of amps and settings do you guys use? Also what sort of effects and things do you guys have?

i found myself a peavy 5150 (original) used for 500 bucks. couldnt ask for more especially if you dont have too much to spend

I use a Digitech 2101 Tube Processor through a Mesa Triple Rectifier and Mesa cabs. It doesn't sound "digital" at all. It is actually close to Alexi's sound.

i even do not try to get a metal sound and my ampolification is notworthy of describing

but in the future Ill get 5150 combo and Boss DD-3 and CH-1, which added to my guitar would make my sound hahah

i own a crate gfx-212. its not a bad amp for practice/small gigs and it can pull off a decent metal "crunch" and it has a nice "tubelike" thick, clean channel

shit, i think POD Pro OWNS the flextone series. i mena the original, not that XT junk, all the treadplate amps SUCK on the XT. i can get an In Flames tone, i got a spot on Steve Vai tone, a perfect megadeth tone, and a Motley Crue tone that needs soem post EQing, but i get some awesome tones out of that thing, i love it. Ask serge. . . about the in Flames and megadeth tones.

anyone knows a good rack unit or something with nice distorsions and nice clean sounds, midi compatible?
