What's the best type of amp for death metal, that has good tone quality, but also good distortion quality? I need to have it around 30-50 watts, and under $300. I'd like to have 2 channel, chorus setting, and reverb settings...everything I'll need...Thanx in advance for anyone who helps me...see ya

i just got a line 6 spider 2 (210) amp the other day. the cheapest model (112) has 75 wats i think and 4 channels programmable channels as well as your other specs. you can get alot of different sounds out of it including a really distorted "death metal" sound out of it, although its not specifically made for really distorted sounds you can get them out of it.

i've seen the 112 model sell for $299.

btw its a digital amp.

Thanks, 75 watts. . .That might be a lil too much power but I'll look into it. Anybody got other opinions?
remember, its digital, so it will sound good even at bedroom/low practice levels. And you can always use it if you need it.

also a JCM 800 combo with a EQ and a Boost (SD-1) in front of it will get some cool sounds

Oh. . .Now I feel like a complete dumbass, but I was kinda looking at it anyway and it just looks and sounds too good to pass up. I'm still gonna look around more, but considering a music store in the town beside me sells Line 6 amps I'll more than likely go with them. Thanks, any others?

The best for death metal...Hmmm...
I would have to say that Line6 is good all around. The Spider 112 combo is a VERY good amp, and not too expensive. As an alternative, you can use a home stereo and a distortion pedal.
For a distortion pedal, I would recommend the Digitech XMM Metal Master, it's an amazing pedal. In order to use a home stereo, you either need to have an 1/4" input jack on the stereo or get a 1/8"-1/4" adapter, and go from the output of the pedal into the input jack on the stereo. I did this for awhile, and it was great, but then I killed my speakers (They were old), and all I have now is a shitty little pratice amp.
Whichever way you choose to go, you will end up with great tone. Having such a low budget really sucks, if you had about $1200 to spend, I could give you a nice sized list of excellent metal amps, but oh well. I Hope I helped at least a little bit.

Thanks for the advice, I'm gonna pick this amp up in about 2 weeks. (I gotta get a couple more pay checks.) But, I've heard wayyyy too much good stuff from this amp, and anything is better than the amp I got now. . .It's a pitiful sight. . .Thanks for the help guys, see-ya.

Hey guys just a final note...but I have a Peavey Bandit 112, the new "transtube" vesion and it has a GREAT distorted tone...it has three lead channels, one for "vintage" or the AC/DC sound, a "modern" for that Pantera kinda thing and then the "high gain" which give you a strikingly similar tone to Slayer....just thought I'd throw that at ya. It cost about $300 new and sounds great from the bedroom to the stage of a club...80 watts. Has reverb and a "presence" control which lets you basically sound like you're close to the amp or hearing it from a mile away...
just my take
