What a great weekend of old school.

Friday night I went to Plymouth Pavillions and saw Def Leppard and they were bloody excellent.
Yeah they never played anything from On through the Night or High and Dry (bastards!), but the were still damn good. A great opening duo of Action and Rock, Rock and then it was a mix of everything after that. Rocket sounded awesome, and you could even get to see what a awesome pair of guitarists they've got at times! Pity Vivian can't do Dio as well! If you ain't seen them for a while, believe me they are still worth seeing, even if Joe still ain't a great singer!

Saturday night I just have a total Assault and Battery on my ears and eyes. I went and saw Hawkwind in Exeter and they were fantastic. Yeah they still look like a band of new age travellers but they can still seriously kick arse. Alan Davey is playing with the band still and when he's there it is just like having Lemmy's brother up there. Heavy and loud as fuck bass sound and he even does the head tilted back singing style!
They played a real heavy set and had loads of projections and lasers which fucked up your head even more than the industrial strength dope doing the rounds in the crowd.
All in all a great weekend.

Now how about Alan Davey's Bedouin on the bill at Bloodstock?

I went to the Birmingham show and they played a great show there as well. I agree about the awesome guitars but Joe's vocals are stunning as well. Did you see the support bands? Were they supported by the same as in Birmingham(Ricky Warwick and Must)? What did you think? Gotta say I was very impressed by Must not so much by Ricky Warwick but we were a bit late so missed half of his set.All in all a cool night.

saw leppard a while ago,at brixton, they did kik some serious mother fukin ass, the darkness were supportin em, and altho the darkness are good live, they were nothing compared to the leppards. Aint seen hawkwind, herd they were touring at the mo, have to se if their coming towards me ne time soon.

I doubt we'll see Vivian do anything with Dio any time soon. To quote him:

Dio is a horrible, horrible human being.

See the full interview at http://www.defleppard.com/backstage/index_viv_interview.html. It's a shame, because he was without doubt the best Dio guitarist. But I'm pleased that Craig Goldy is back in the band, as he was always my second choice, and of the Dio guitarists I've seen live, he's easily the best.

With Craig back in the band is it time for Magica Pt 2?
