Analysing Track Level (dB) Through Song

Guys,

Is there a plugin available that can analyse the level of a track over a period of time (say a song) and then display the variation of the track's level in dBfs over time?

Essentially I want a graph with time on x-axis, and dBfs on the y-axis.

I think something like this would really help me set my threshold on a compressor, as I struggle to do it at the moment. My intention would be to put such a plugin before and after the compressor so that I could gauge the overall impact at various points during the song.

Any suggestions?

I've not seen a real time piece of software that can plot the average reading - but there are a lot of processing plugins for MATLAB, Audacity etc, that do what you're after.

Most people only require instantaneous, or entire song, metering in a DAW so I guess that's why there isn't an adjustable period of measurement on the popular meters.

Perhaps Roger Nicol or Schwa have something?

Gclip has a small realtime waveform display. Schwa has something called "schope" that is exactly what you are looking for.

area you using schope?
I just tried it out and the 3 knowbs, FFT, speed and opacity don't work.
do they work for you?
