Since I understand about only 20% of the lyrics' meaning, I would be very glad if someone comes up with someking of a song analysis or whathever. I mean I really curious about those things and even if I try the hardest I can, I can't put the finger on it (most of the time).

Since I'm not fluent in Enlgish, it's even harder

hehe well Opeth is very difficult to undertand as it is. They don't really write straigh foreward lyrics. There's only a few songs that you can really easily undertand what it is about. I just tried to figure out what The Funeral Portrait was about.... shit man i spent hours and i still don't really know for sure what it's about.

well why don't we try all together since those lyrics are so hard grasp...

Where to begin with...
let's say...Harvest from Blackwater Park since it's a relativly short song and I think that the lyrics are more accessible than most of Opeth songs.

Having a long talk with a friend on that matter, I came up with a conclusion:

As I understand it, the narrator has hard time do deal with his feelings toward his dead bride, girlfriend or wathever. Her haunted memories makes his life so painful that he wants to die.

here is a quick review of In Mist She Was Standing:

"Seven milestones...
Under a watching autumn eye
Contorted trees are spreading forth
The message of the wind"

the guy wants to smoke weed but cops are watching

"With frozen hands I rode with the stars"

but anyway he light up the bong

"With anger the wind blew
Giving wings to my stallion
Clouds gathered across the moon
Blazing the white light"

he is stoned to the bone, he sees illusions and lights

"Passing the lake I know so well
I am near, yet so far away"

he wants to smoke again but the bong is too far

"Arrival...
I saw her shadow (standing) in the darkness
Awaiting me like the night
Awaits the day"

and then there is this girl who gives him the bong
he looks at the bong who awaits him to smoke

"Standing silent smiling at my presence
A black candle holds the only light"

the girl smiles to him and lights the bong for him

"Darkness encloses,
And the candle seem to expire
In her cold, cold hand
And as a forlorn soul
It will fade away"

he is no longer stoned

"Touching her flesh in this night
My blood froze forever
Embraced before the dawn
A kiss brought total eclipse"

he picks up again the bong,
and bring his lips to the top of it

"And she spoke
Once and forever"

the girl says: no you've smoked too much

"I am so cold
In mist enrobed the twilight
She was standing... "

he is sad 'cuz the girl won't let him smoke and he sees smoke (mist) everywhere 'cuz everyone else is smoking

an orchad is an apple tree...I think he uses the orchad image to symbolise the forbidden fruit in the bible...anyway that's only speculation, I would like to ear more about that orchad...
