Andy Sneap/ Russ Russell video interviews

Nice interviews! Would be great if Andy would some day film a whole session (even 1 song from his drawer will do) from micing to mastering.
I'd love to watch and learn (and pay) for that educational dvd if he ever were to make one. C'mon Andy?? :kickass:

yeah, something like Charles Dye:blush:

Does anyone have the presets for the mixes that Andy envisions in his head? :erk:

Seriously though...what I got out of that is that there isn't only one way to work. You do what is right in that moment and make the choices necessary to get you to the sound you have in your head. Understanding what Andy or anyone did to get a particular sound is cool and all, but even if you do nail it how do you know it'll work for what your are doing?

Very cool and lots of good info in there! :kickass:

"Do you use spectrum analyzers much?"

"Nope."

"Do you use references mixes?"

"Nope."

I laughed my ass off at his responses...

generally the whole interview, Andy seems like, "I just make it sound good, man... get orf my land."

The "name" industry folks that I've talked to seem to work with the K.I.S.S (keep it simple stupid) method. It's more of a "I turn knobs until it sounds good" instead of "I turn knobs until it sounds like :insert band name:"

yeah I must admit to being a bit perplexed about that interview when we did it. Its just seems like the wrong idea asking those sorts of questions because you cant hear things how I hear them so ....... the answers got shorter I'm afraid.

It was interesting hearing that Russ didn't trigger the Evile album. Just listened to it, it's pretty cool sounding. A lot of punch without too much click.

Half way through reading the article at work...

don't often buy SoS... some good info every now and again, i normally get the answers i need on here, but it was good to see this article

have to wait til i get home to watch these videos cause the Macs we use at work won't show youtube vids :waah::waah:

Anymore interviews in the pipeline Andy?

Totally. I think if they had polled this forum for questions, it would've been a much more stimulating interview. Thanks all the same Andy for giving answers as concise as possible.

In all fairness I think the 'ask sneap' thread has pretty much all the info you'd ever want to know, and still be able to apply to your own workflow. People tend to repeat the same questions inevitably anyway.

The videos were really enjoyable to watch, even though the questions the interviewer had for Andy were pretty basic and have been asked and answered here already. Then again, Andy has answered pretty much all of our questions :) The article was really interesting, too. Too bad I had to be a pirating whore and get the mag off teh intarnets, seems damn near impossible to find the magazine here :/
