Andy's Go To Mic Preamps for Guitar

I don't recall much talk about what Mic Preamps Andy likes to go to for guitar tracks.

I see all the talk about What Amps, Pedals Speaker Cabs, Position and amp/pedal settings....

But what else is in the final chain?

I am wondering what Preamp he typically uses?

And it seems like possibly the Distressor might be part of the chain based on some pics.

I didnt pull anything up in the searches.

I am just surprised I havent really seen anything about it.

I am aware of some of the preamps he has and have seen mention of using the Amek for some vocals and the Crane Song Spider on Drums.

Yup i think thats right, And they are unreal sounding! wish i had 8000 toad skins to throw down.

Well, more like $6800, but still...

And they have the ADAT connection which is nice for Pro Tools hardware connections.

But $6800 is alot of cash to drop on Pre's.

But if you saved up for 8 excellent pre's compared to buying 2 Focusrite Red 1's at $3199 a pop you get alot of bang for your buck with the Crane Song Spider.

Yeah, he picked up the 3124+ while doing the Exodus and used it on that + the Despised Icon. Maybe he's found a new fav?

Anyone familiar with the API 512c for guitar? I'm somewhat torn between that and a great river. Any recommendations?

the 3124/512 is awesome on drums and anything transient tastic. its pretty cool on guitar; never really did it for me; except on clean. great on vocals.
the great river is amazing on everything.
and it has an output control... lol

If I remember correctly, he uses a 512c
