The Maidens played there earlier this year. I'm so pissed about this! NYE in San Francisco really sucks this year. The best thing going on is Ronnie Montrose in Santa Clara but I don't have money or transpo for that, so I'm going to the closing of Annie's since there's no cover charge. There's no bands either just DJ's and the karaoke room will be open.I hope someone cool buys it and reopens it as it was. For many years that place was known as the Covered Wagon Saloon and was a fun underground dive to see bands at mostly punk.
Then sadly it closed down but reopened as the Cherry Bar but kept the format going but didn't have the flair of the old CW. A lot of people hated it too.
Then this chick Annie bought it and turned it basically back in to the old CW just under her name and now it's closing down again
We lose so many clubs in this town its ridiculous but somehow the scene manages to endure and a new place pops up we'll see how it goes.
