This is the cut that really hit me on the new album. It's an absolutely gorgeous ballad complete with steel guitar and harmonica. It's dedicated to the city of New Orleans.

"Breathe In, Breathe Out, Move On"

I bought a cheap watch from the crazy man
Floating down Canal
It doesn't use numbers or moving hands
It always just says "now"
Now you may be thinking that I was had
But this watch is never wrong
And if I have trouble the warranty said
Breathe in..breathe out...move on.

And it Rained
It was nothing really new
And it blew
We've seen all that before
And it poured
The earth began to strain
Ponchartrain
Leaking through the door
Tides at war

If a hurricane doesn't leave you dead
It will make you strong
Don't try to explain just nod your head
Breathe in..breathe out...move on

And it Rained
It was nothing really new
And it blew
We've seen all that before
And it poured
The earth began to strain
Ponchartrain
Buried the Ninth Ward
To the second floor

According to my watch the time is now
The past is dead and gone
Don't try to shake it just nod your head
Breathe in..breathe out..move on.
Don't try to explain it just bow your head
Breath in..breathe out.. move on.

That is indeed beautiful. I haven't gotten the new CD yet, but my dad was a huge Buffett fan as well and raised me on his works.

Shit if we all had that attitude that the time is "now" then we would never be late for anything, and our stress level would be significant less. 4 Kudos to Mr. Buffet and his lyrics for us 'NOW". And we all need to just breathe in and breathe out and move on to the next now.

Those are sum great lyrics. But these are my all time favorite from Buffett. The visual i get in my head of this is wild.

"Pre-You"

Mysterious lost weekend in a land
where time stands still
Where people fall in love again
just for one more thrill
My girl and I went walking
by the Caribbean sea
Someone snorkled by raised her head up high
And my girl said who's she?

[Chorus]
Pre you a friend of mine who's old not new
Pre you she's just another girl that I once knew
A pleasant smile a pretty face
Another time another place
Pre you what's a guy supposed to do?

We'll blame it on the weather
and the stars that shine above
For bringing us together and
filling us with love
So don't you fret my lady,
'cause what we have is strong
Let her swim away
out into the bay
your place is here with me

She's pre you just a friend
so don't be blue
Pre you she's only yesterday
just passing through
Another page in history
a stepping stone for you and me
Pre you what's a guy supposed to do?

[Instumental]

Long ago we were close but the fire went out
She's a tease can't you tell
that's what she's all about
Like an old brokenclock on the wall
she's got nothing to say
She was long ago she's so yesterday

She's pre you just a friend
so don't be blue
Pre you she's only yesterday
just passing through
Another page in history
a stepping stone for you and me
Pre you what's a guy supposed to do?

If Buffett really is "one of the greatest lyricists of all time", as you say...then how do you explain "Math Sucks"???

I'm just askin' :p

Not to mention this classic
Why don't we get drunk.................and screw!!!
Thai is a killer song though, will be bought!!

I love Buffett's stuff... the shows are always a blast and I'm a HUGE fan of lyric writers with great word play instead of just writing something that kinda works

he's definitely one of the few out there that has a way with words... this is just another show of proof..

I have to say this and hopefully not disappoint anyone that didn't see this last night(Glenn) Mr. Jimmy Buffet and band were the special guests and played on "The Emiril Live Show" it was the best Emiril show i ahve seen in a long long time, "I'll sign for Gumbo" was the highlight of the whole show. The crowd was all decked out as Parrotheads, and Doc Gibbs got Drunk on Jimmy's Margaritia's. it was the Best show ever. Hope you saw it Glenn.

He's a gifted novelist as well. While I’ve never been a major Parrothead, I would highly recommend “A Salty Piece of Land” to anyone looking for a great vacation read. (Warning: Reading this book while on the beach will seriously intensify the urge to call your employer and tell them you aren’t coming back…)
