I guess this really isn't a problem, it's just more like me being an idiot. How can i stop hearing the direct input while monitoring?

For example:

My guitar chain looks like this. Guitar --DI Box---Then Rme fireface 800. No matter what i do, i can always hear my guitar's DI signal. The same thing happens when im recording vocals. The singer hears the dry signal along with the processed signal (if i press the monitoring button in cubase). How can i just hear the processed signal?

Totalmix :)

You probably don't have the output level down on that channel on your speakers or headphones.

Totalmix is tricky at first, but unbelievably amazing once you know the ropes. I'm not saying you don't the ropes, you could be a totalmix wiz.

Yeah sounds like you've got something turned up in totalmix. Open it up and see what channels are showing signal when you play. Likely there's one up that shouldn't be.

Faders to -∞ on the corresponding input channels. Input signal still comes through, you're just not 'monitoring' it.
