Another Mix. (warning...breakdown metal. lol)

Guitars could definitely use more crunch.

Vocals sound perfect.

The intro could be a little catchier. (possibly do the whole thing breathe carolina does with their guitars in Hello Fascination) where the panning switches every time the guitarist changes notes.

drums and bass are solid.

the guitars could def use some more to them...the hihat sounds weird too its making it sound like theres just alot of hissing going on in the back of the song, also on the beginning part of the intro im hearing a lot of pops/clicks...if thats what your going for then cool but if its not then you might want to check that out

breakdowns don't scare me, but you should have warned me about the gay clean vox :ill:

I think it sounds very good. I guess if I had to comment about something, the bass drum was pretty dynamic, kind of made me feel I'm watching a band live.

VERY interesting about the dynamic kick drum...maybe i'll tighten up on the velocity knob. But that's something that I liked, how it wasn't the same velocity and sample EVERYTIME. The guitars FOR SURE are coming up. I don't think they need to have more gain..they just need to come up. The clicks and pops are intentional...kinda like "old record player" stuff. Thanks for the input guys. I really do appreciate it. I also appreciate the good comments. Thanks!

Usually I'd be advocating this sort of attitude, but considering the band I think just diming the velocity would probably work better. I actually hate to say it. Haha. Something weird about hearing a band of this style with slate samples and having DYNAMIC drums haha. But yeah, I think the dynamics are a little misplaced. It just sounds inconsistent rather than intentional. I mean as AE's our aim is to show the MUSIC in the correct light, whether the production is raw or tight and sampled to fuck, and I think what this mix needs is far more consistent velocities. This is exactly why I'm personally slowing down on mixing anything core and going for stuff where I can go for more raw production, cos it's far cry from what I believe is good practice, but all things considered and putting aside my opinions of the genre and the quality or lack thereof of the music, more constant velocity settings would be much mroe fitting here I think. Snare sounds about right though, so don't touch that.

I'm curious when the whole sampled-and-compressed-to death philosophy will invert and people will go on ledzepsounds again in metalcore ;)

+1 to guitars louder
+1 to tighten the kick
+1 to cher-ish vocals are kind of a fail^^ not my taste as well (sry dude)

but the tune itself is cool
i like the other vocals

Yeah...Clean vox here are a lose, lose sometimes I think. haha. But I never get offended. :)

I did another mix of this last night..gtrs went WAAAY up and put less velocities in the kick. I also put more high end in the kick to tear it's way through the now loud gtrs while also raising the kick a ton! I think it's pretty brutal now. I'll post an update when I get to the office. All the suggestions here were dead on!
