Another stab at Only

true, he sings "you can't tell me not to stop it" instead of "you can't tell me to stop it" and he sings "and that's i i i it" everytime and John sang "and that's it" the first time and only before the chorus "and that's i i i it".

Oh, well. He's not getting the words wrong in in the "that's it"-part, he just sings it differently. The only obvious error is the "you can't tell me not to stop it"-bit. The original lyrics were: "You can't tell me to stop it. You can't tell me not to quit" - which doesn't make much sense. It might be that the rest of the band has agreed to stick onther "not" in there for the sake of consistency... and then Joey has to take the blame

It's just great reading comments from Joey bashers. Joey saved this bands ass and that is the bottom line. There would not be any more "only" live if Joey didn't bail this chaotic band out. I think it sure sounds a lot better than not having them do it at all. If you don't like Anthrax with Joey thats your choice. But it may be time to either give Joey props for saving this band or just move on and realize John Bush is not coming back, and that he didn't want to come back.

And here's even another stab at Only from 4 days ago... Plus, Metal Thrashing Mad.

I hate that! It's not supposed to be like that every time, he shouldn't over-use the melody like that.

100% correct.

Maybe Scott can tell us loyal listeners what Plan C was if Joey had refused (like Bush) to return. Go on Scott, what was your plan????

I'm sure plan C is working with John again on some kind of collaboration. I would find it hard to believe that given the opportunity Scott would not work with Bush again on some level.

I don't know how saved the band is right now. They're on tour playing good gigs because they're playing with better selling bands on a retro tour. I mean by the same logic Anthrax bailed out Joey's failing solo career? I don't really care either way. I think the situation sort of stinks for the guy to be in a band where the other members have stated time and time again that they prefer a style that he's not best suited for. I think that's going to suck ass come studio time. These tracks thet their completely satisfied with aren't going to sound the same with a guy like Joey vs a guy like Dan. I liked GOTE but there were some songs that just sounded very off with John singing (opinions on voice aside, I'm talking phrasing and such).

I don't think Only is the best choice for Joey. It was one of Johns better performances and while Joey's version isn't really bad it isn't the best song for him. I would go more with Room for one more or black lodge. Just me though.

AGREED

There would be no Anthrax without Joey being gracious enough to bail them out after the Dan Nelson fiasco and John's temp agency dates, yet some whine about a minor change in lyrics/vocal arrangement (which sounds better than the studio version IMO). I'm looking forward to the new stuff being released hopefully soon. I'm glad they moved beyond that grunge/foo fighters sound of some of their previous releases.
