Any Boss GT Pro owners?

I have only tried a GT6 that an ex-bandmember had, it was utter shit.

If the cosm technology didn't change much (and i don't think it did), then i assume the GT Pro might be quite shitty too (although full of bells and whistles)

I have had the GT8 for a few years now (much the same guts as the pro). Distorted amp models and cabs are crap. Clean tones are nice, JC120 model comes to mind with some chorus. The Effects and number of variables is amazing and the ability to set the order of the signal chain is great. the so-called "4-cable method" (google it) is good for jam/live use with the correct amp (Krank Rev, not so good, 6505 pretty good). You can put the 6505 preamp in the GT's Loop and therefore put the GT's WAH in front of that and Mod, delay, verb etc... after that and before the 6505 Power amp. It can also switch amp channel's. The amount of pedal assigns is crazy too (useful crazy).

is a great resource. There is some great 3rd party software for the GT8 (pro has it's own limited software) to make patches, pedal assignments, etc........

Enough BS from me, I just bored myself. :heh:

Cool, thanks for the link. I don't care about any of the amp sims, just the quality and use of effects and the other cool sounding functions like you described. Do the effects sound just like all the boss pedals or can you tell a difference?

I think the fx in the gt6/8/pro are all totally useable for live situations.

I used to have a GT-3 and then my friend broke it. Bastard. I always enjoyed using it. I was able to get some usable tones out of it.

I replaced my G-major with the GT-PRO, and i'm really satisfied with it. Ok this is not a Axe-Fx, but it fulfill all my fx-needs.

I mainly use it only for the effects with my Laboga Mr. Hector. I'm going to try it also with the 4 cable method, just to try out different patches with amp sims. Great unit. Check out also http://bossgtcentral.com/forum/ and http://forum.thestompbox.net/forumdisplay.php?f=19

I was looking at the G major first, but I found too many stories of it locking up often while playing. Wanting something stable.

Check out the Rocktron XPression dude - I used to have one, and it was AWESOME; so many features and great sound, it'd be perfect except it doesn't have amp switching relays, but with something like an Axess Electronics CFX-4, you could get MIDI switching of the amp (and it'd be more in-depth anyway). Plus, you wouldn't have to run so many stupid cables to the front of the stage (just a MIDI cable!)

That's why I was thinking GT Pro, only the MIDI cable to deal with and I can control everything with 1 pedalboard. and I am getting an amp/rack case soon so it seemed ideal. The Rocktron looks promising though. I'll have to check it out.
