Any info on "Koloss" production?

All music says it was produced by Meshuggah, mixed by Bergstrand. That's all I know. And I seem to remember a thread that said they used Cubase amprack on the guitars. But who knows if they actually used that in the mix...

I read an interview in FUZZ magazine (A Swedish guitar mag) a couple of days ago with them and they did use the Cubase amp rack (which is also confirmed by the DVD where FT goes through the process. They did use the axe-fx to line the signal to cubase). It was also quad tracked and interestingly enough Thordendal is quoted as saying that whoever wrote the song did all the guitars on that track.

As seen on the DVD of the Deluxe Edition of the album they really used Cubase VST Amprack.

Really funny imho is that they used the Axe FXs just as interface and then used the Amprack :D
Frederik said that the Axe FX has waaay too much options and possibilities for him so that he never gets done with finding a sound :D

I guess this is going to boost the sales of Cubase 6.5 ;)
On the other hand, I never understood why some well known bands that can afford any piece of gear still go with the amp sims... This is not another rant of "real amps are superior to amp sims" since I do think that there are quite amazing plug ins in that department, but to me the studio recording session is obviously the time and place where you choose the best equipment that is at your disposal...
But I have to admit that the review done by this guy really got me interested in Amp Rack:

It's a stylistic decision. Digital simulation fits their style better than tube amp sound and is more convenient to work with. I'm pleasantly surprised how good the amp rack sounds for what it is, but outside of that, the tone is not terribly impressive.

There's a DVD on the making of the album with the digipack CD and they go through most of the details, even a small part with Daniel Bergstrand (but not with him speaking).

I thought the guitar tone was great, absolutely perfect for the music. The mix was a big step forward from obzen, which was no slouch.
