in order to get THAT sound you have to:

Have long hair
Wear black
Wear Cool Armbands
Play some sort of "power metal"
Look cool doing it

Without all of that not a chance

The pedestal with lights could help to!! Gets the bass further from the ground proving more "girth"

i don't think that it is just one track/unit whatever.
a tone like that always needs massive tweaking and two or more seperated bass tracks.
one track that gives teh boomz, very hard compressed and another one that gives the high frequencies, distortion etc.
i am using lepou's legoin to distort my bass tracks, works well as long as you don't distort any low frequencies
here's what i sounds like atm, it's not perfect but i think it's a good starting point to work with...

Yeah I know the basic principles of the signal splitting, but this bass sounds quite a bit better than most software sims I hear. Probs a real amp/sansamp combo in there id assume.

yeah, if i could i would distort everything using this plugin!
here's the bass in a mix, but it's still raw so it may not sound that good.

sounds cool, but it's a bit clouded by the guitars, still, the parts that poke out sound really cool, all you need is to put that highpass higher on the guits, or a lowshelf or something

Sounds like a driven-SVT sort of tone to me. There are lots of ways to go about achieving this tone, but it starts with a good bass being played hard with a pick.

I can get that tone with an SVT into an 810 pushed by a RAT and brand spanking new strings. LA2A is pretty important to get the smoothness in the tone too.

Does the hardware version of the RAT sound any different to the emulations of it on PODfarm and the likes?

If the flavour of the hardware is more workable I might be tempted to pick up a second hand pedal.

Actually it might be worth saving the money and using my dual recto to reamp the overdriven bass side of things?
