Any ideas what may have been used for this?

Sounds like it could be Sansampy :loco:

Kickass song!

i don't think that it is just one track/unit whatever.
a tone like that always needs massive tweaking and two or more seperated bass tracks.
one track that gives teh boomz, very hard compressed and another one that gives the high frequencies, distortion etc.
i am using lepou's legoin to distort my bass tracks, works well as long as you don't distort any low frequencies :D
here's what i sounds like atm, it's not perfect but i think it's a good starting point to work with...

in order to get THAT sound you have to:

Have long hair
Wear black
Wear Cool Armbands
Play some sort of "power metal"
Look cool doing it

Without all of that not a chance

Oh and dont forget the beard / goatee! & SMOKE!!!

The pedestal with lights could help to!! Gets the bass further from the ground proving more "girth"

Any you have to go .....

WHoAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A LOT!!!

...you ever kissed a girl?

Yeah I know the basic principles of the signal splitting, but this bass sounds quite a bit better than most software sims I hear. Probs a real amp/sansamp combo in there id assume.

Your clip sounds cool, quite Machinehead-esque!

Well Jens visits this forum once every two years, so if you wait long enough and keep bumping this thread till 2012 he might answer you hahaha

Seriously, it does sound like there's some sansamp in it, but can't be sure.

This sounds pretty good dude, that's Legion on the highs? I might just try that out on my next mix! Got any clips of that tone in a full mix?

here's the bass in a mix, but it's still raw so it may not sound that good.

Thanks for the info!

Does the hardware version of the RAT sound any different to the emulations of it on PODfarm and the likes?

If the flavour of the hardware is more workable I might be tempted to pick up a second hand pedal.
