anybody still using POD Farm?

ok caved in and bought the metal expansion... what else is good?
yea i know its old technology and yes i have recabinet 4/x50/amplitube 3/th2/free sims...

Default Pod Farm is meh, but if you have Metal Shop expansion, than you can have something that really works. It was only reason why selling UX2 as bit hard, but I'm still owning Metal shop and thinking to get base Pod Farm and use it with my profire 2626 (even after having recabinet 4 & TSE 50x v2).
Yeah it may sound bit plastic-ish, but it just work and can have in your face sound (if use TS + Cali Plate + threadplate cab).
By Cali Plate, do you mean the Triple or the Dual Recto sim? Cause the Dual Recto comes with POD Farm without the need to upgrade to the Metal Shop.

Either way, I think both the Dual and Triple sims in POD Farm sound alright. The Triple is a wee-bit tighter, but also a bit more nasal. I think the Cali Treadplate or however the Dual Rectifier is called is pretty decent, and quite honestly, I don't see the need to pay more for the extra 45974954 amp sims in the Metal Shop pack out of which 2 or 3 sound useable, but not BETTER than anything the stock POD Farm has. IMO. Also, LeCto DESTROYS either the Triple or Dual Rectifier sims in POD farm if you want a realistic Rectifier amp sim.

got any cool presets to share?
thanks

Presets really won't help unless you have the same exact gear, strings, etc. Just take those amp models and work with them. I usually use the Screamer distortion pedal, and a little reverb to help. Using an EQ in your DAW is always beneficial as well.

It took nearly 2 pages to uncover the real reason of opening this thread :D

He PM'ed me about the same thing. I don't blame him, if he's just getting into music production. But eventually, he's going to have to cut out the preset business.

The only time I ever presets these days is as a starting point, or if they're actually my own personal presets.

I always try to be polite and answer new guys, but it started to get bit bothering. Still didn't say anything harsh tho.

I don't know how to put it, but this guy is weird.

I don't want to put this guy on blast too much but he always posts similar questions in the facebook group. Oftentimes wanting definitive answers to subjective topics, or immediate answers to questions he could solve with a google search. I do not understand the mindset.

He's PM'ed two times as well, and I'm expecting a third one. I kind of got a little stern with him/her/it on the second reply when he asked me to share some presets when I pointed him in the direction of where he can buy some good ones, which probably wasn't that great of an idea to begin with as he probably isn't looking to buy anything.

Then I decided to clean out my inbox.....when I see he PM'ed me over a year ago asking if I could share some impulses.

I get the feeling this guy/gal/thing falls into the mindset of using presets on everything with no tweaking and expecting good results.

Asking for presets for pod farm is like asking for tactics, players, and formations when you're playing Football Manager! I mean, what's the point?!!?? What would this fella do if he/she had real gear in front of them? Watch Rob Chapman videos in the hope of seeing which way round you use a guitar lead perhaps!!!??

First off Im not defending this or presets..... But Presets are a great learning tool. (and Podfarm comes with a ton of them) I dont think its absolutely dumb to ask about presets or screenshots. Sure nothing will be the same mix to mix and there are no right answers but if someone is using a "simliar" chain into the computer than a preset can be a great starting place or at least a learning tool to see how something was achieved. Lol the private messages are pretty funny.

I agree Studdy. Most people here want to learn more from each other. That is the objective of a community.

Using presets isn't problem (I highly love learning from presets on stuf I'm new with). Problem is to feeding like... ok I'm getting offensive, but you got idea.

At start asking which expansions for pod farm is ok.
After naming free plugins I'd suggest for production (on he's started topic asking such stuff) receive PM like this:

hey do you know how to use
MT Power Drum Kit 2
how is it? is it really free?
Is not OK, when you can google that plugin/ see yourself on their OFFICIAL website/ look at their demo video/ download it yourself/ try it yourself.
Just look at his started topics
That's bottle feeding to me.

Certainly presets are a great learning tool. Software presets are great for something complicated to a beginner such as Superior Drummer or someone just starting to find out about cab impulses but we all know full well that Podfarm is self explanatory to anyone who has ever picked up a guitar and plugged it into an amp. Failing that, 30 minutes searching and reading about the subject will give you all you need to know.

The point people are making is that this person has started many threads on other forums asking for the same thing, presets, and despite the fantastic help they receive, they still ask the same questions.

I personally think the OP's having a laugh and this is some kind of subversive trolling they've developed.
