Anyone going to Moonspell / Katatonia?

With my back in the shape it's in, comfort is more of a necessity for me these days, so I took advantage of my passes, and sat upstairs to see the show, which was amazing I may add. First of all, all 3 bands KILLED. Daylight Dies, in my opinion, had one of the best sounds of the night. They are so solid live, and certainly one of this countries most under appreciated bands. Hopefully that will change for those guys, they deserve it! Katatonia was great. An amazing set. I could watch those guys play for hours to hear everything I wanted to. Moonspell, amazing as usual. Chicago was certainly a Moonspell crowd. Lots of chanting, and really awesome energy.

The after party was great fun to. Hung out with all the bands until the early morning, had a few drinks, went to a wacky costume party... Good times. Jonas is one of the nicest people I've met, as was Anders. My old friend Fernando had some very nice things to say about me and ND on stage, so he made my evening. Great time overall! Arline and I needed a fun night out!

I try to avoid the pits as well.

There were a couple of drunk guys behind me during Katatonia who began to mosh. Luckily security broke it up quickly. I am not against moshing per se, if it is the right type of band, but come on. Katatonia isn't a mosh band.

Sorry to hear you guys had to play in the same venue as Killswitch Engage. I had the misfortune of seeing them at Ozzfest last year.

Cumon Jasonic; Killswitch is not that bad at all. Just think away all the hype. Maybe we in Europe (in Holland anyway) are standing away from that a little further. Meaning that Killswitch is a wellknown band here, but no-one is going berserk about them. I personally think that they create good songs.

Hey, don't take my insults personally. I am a DragonForce fan afterall.

I just do not care for all these american bands that WOULD BE hardcore bands if this were 10 years ago, but now play metal because it is a trend. (IE - Shadows Fall, Hatebreed, Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage, etc, etc.).

I mean, I am not against someone being into metal and hardcore (as I do like some of the 80's american hardcore bands), but it just comes off as completely poserish to me.

As I said, they don't need my vote. They have enough fans on their own.
I just don't care for it. I am not going to knock you though or anyone else for that matter for liking them.

Seriously though the balcony is the place to be, to get away from the idiots moshing. (...)
Well you know, I've also come to the point where I'd rather be up on a balcony enjoying a show rather than in the back of the club where you'll typically find me/us if I'm not taking pictures right in front of the stage. (Don't worry guys, I hardly ever use a flash.)

That being said, I think it may be age that's done that to me. I don't regard it better or worse than the way I enjoyed a gig say ten years ago, but matter of the fact is I did all the moshing, stagediving and what have you not in my day - and enjoyed it! Otherwise I wouldn't have done it, needless to say. I could only be found in a moshpit a couple of times in recent years though and I've come to realise it doesn't get my adrenaline going the way it used to. So there you go. People change.
As long as the moshing isn't violent and people can keep it to the somewhat restricted moshpit area, I have absolutely no problem with it and in fact think it's a cool way to show support for a band. Like Jasonic said though, given the fact that it fits to the band and the music they play.
Actually, the first two rows in front of the stage should be a relatively good place to hang out. I only had to go into defence mode for my camera once so far which was due to a guy who went astray from the pit as such, probably not by choice. :loco: Stagedivers (which you see surprisingly few of these days, or is it just me?) tend to jump right over the first couple of rows, so there you go.

Oooo, *big* chunk of text, right there...!

Yes, we got murder!!:worship:

Nice!!!! I know at a festival last year they whipped out "Without God"

Murder would have been sweet, esp since "Had To Leave" was probably my least favorite track of the setlist I saw
(Not complaining, as it was indeed a stellar setlist and performance, but if I had to pick one song to remove from the set, it would have been "Had to Leave")

We didn't get Deadhouse. Other than that, it was a great show. Oh, and they were out of the Katatonia shirt I wanted. *shakes fist*

 Go over to the Katatonia forum.
There are some VERY upset fans over there.
In Mokena, I think they only had one or two shirts left.
None of them were too stellar in all honesty.

Regardless, it was still amazing to finally see them live.

Hopefully with the success of this tour, other bands such as My Dying Bride will make it over.

The chances of Bride ever touring here again are highly unlikely, regardless of how successful the tour may be. They all have very good career jobs, and can't get the time off to tour anymore, so the vacation they do get, they do a week in Europe, and European festival dates. Not to mention, their past experience in the US was not the best. :erk:

A couple of the MDB guys will be in Manchester when we play, so I'm looking forward to seeing my old friends again.

Oh really? That stinks. I don't know anything about their careers and what not.
It does seem they mostly do the festival circuit.

They only did the one short tour with DIO right?
I think I saw that they played Toto's (Jackhammers) in Schaumburg back in the late 90's.

Well, MDB was just an example.
