anyone know of any good guides for playing cleanly with high gain on guitar?

to be able to play cleanly with high gain, you need to be able to play even cleaner with low gain. and really, high gain sounds like ass, i personally don't hardly go over halfway on the gain knob. but you will learn with age.

Best advice I have is to practice with clean tone ... once you're clean and fret noise free, move to distortion. Don't scoop your mids and don't go overboard with distortion or effects. Gradually practice and increase the distortion to your liking as your skill increases. Remember, you need to use both hands to mute the strings, and eventually it will become natural to you.

Yeah, most of my guitar playing friends are in love with scooping mids but mids give you that fat and warm tone that works for almost any style
