Saw this film Sunday evening. I thought it was well constructed and well acted. Very entertaining. I wish the oppressive government had been less cartoonishly villainous, as it would have made the message a more double-edged one. I doubt most Americans will really understand that V was no different than any "terrorist" that we so despise today. As long as you make your villain unpalatable to your target audience, the hero seems truly righteous no matter how bad he is.
Some day people are going to have to face the fact that terrorist, freedom-fighter, insurgent, and soldier all mean the same thing. They are just different words the media uses to 'spin' a story and obtain a desired reaction. Can't have our citizens waking up one day and realizing that we are the biggest, meanest, and strongest terrorist organization in world history.
