Hey whats up guys... well guys I purchased the steven slate samples a while ago but I truly haven't even put them to use.... what i would generally do is used some of the gog file with drumagog but I heard many saying that turning the drum tracks to Midi and using them with the kontak player was more sufficient so hey why not give it a try... My only problem is that i dont really know how to convert the audio tracks to midi and how to use the kontak player..

So I was wondering can anyone turn my Kick and Snare track to Midi so I can get started using the kontak player... Im going to post the Kick, Snare and Overheads so if you want to mix them for fun :)

But it would be cool if one of you can send me the midi takes of the Kick and Snare so i can give this a try... then if you dont mind telling me the easiest way to turn them to midi... i was looking into Drumtracker.. but just to make sure i want to know if my dry tracks need anything in order to be converted to midi.

Have fun thanks.

By the way i converted the audio to mp3 (wanted the files smaller) but anyways doesnt really matter if I just want them to be converted to midi.

Don't know what daw your using, and there are a number of ways as your probably already aware of some, but Massey has released DTM which converts audio to midi seems like an outstanding tool catered for the pro tools users.
The only catch is it's a free plug in once you purchase one of the many plug ins he has available, which are great and damn cheap too.

2 things:
MP3 isn't time accurate, converting a wav to mp3 often results in a very slight difference in length, which means at some point a noticeable shift in sync
we'd need the tempo of the song, tempo gets exported along with MIDI so when you drop it into your session it will likely be way off.

+1 on Massey DTM, that's what I use.

Well im not on Protools... Im using cubase.

Yeah i was reading the Reaper tutorial that just came out.. but to tell u the truth guys i have like no fucking clue whats going on their.... I been using cubase for years now and I feel much comfortable there.

But anyways thanks guys.... I just wanted to give midi drums with slate... to check out the outcome....

Do you guys know If i can use the Reaper stock plug ins ins cubase? so maybe ii can try that their?

Drumagog can export MIDI, I've never done it but I know it can be done... Do a search around and see if you can find anything about it, should be able to do it pretty easy! If not Drumtracker is my preferred tool for this sort of thing, but you definitely need a tempo track to match it up to for the MIDI to import correctly back into your DAW.

sorry if this was already asked... but why should i convert audio to midi if i want to triger some sample using lets say drumagog?
i have one track thats kick and i want to put a kick sample to it... why just not put drumagog on insert of that audio track and replace it like that? is all this cause of the bleed and stuff or something else is involved here x)

all best

actually you can just add the drumagog to the track and blend it with the original take... but i wanted to convert to midi so that i can use the Steven slate kontak player.

The kontak player works with midi only... so that why i wanted to give that a try.

hey thanks for answering, i wanted to know if there is any difference between puting drumagog on insert of an audio track or using midi and kontakt player?
or is it just more easyer to manipulate and stuf...
