Anyone using Metal Foundry ?

Me either, I agree with James here, MF so far hasn't impressed me unfortunately. I'm a TT fan, I just don't dig on the sounds I have been hearing with MF.

no offense or disrespect meant to James. I actually dig his guitar playing and think he's a talented musician. Actually hasn't ever bothered me personally. It's just that I've noticed a LOT of antagonistic comments from him on here and a LOT of people arguments/bickering/etc. involving him on here... a bit outpsoken, I guess, is all... haha. it was just a passing comment though. no big deal.

Cymbals are beautiful. dont dig the drum tones. cymbals on slate are total garbage but his samples are good. these here you got arent bad. snare sounds wierd to me though and the bass drums make it sound too processed. sick recording though. cymbals sound real as real gets.

yeah I pretty much agree. overall I like the slate drum sounds a lot better, but I agree the slate cymbals sound pretty shitty and I've pretty much given up on trying to use them. I think the metal foundry cymbals sound wayyyy better... probably the best I've heard from any kind of drum sample library like this

sorry Shred, my comment was not in direct response to yours at all.. it was just my opinion regardng the idea of the MF samples as a whole being "great".. unfortunate choice of a quote ("fantastic") on my part, as i haven't even checked out the cymbals, just the drum sounds, and i was reading a bit quickly... so sorry if you took that as a criticism of your opinion, it wasn't intended to be. i should have said, "i'm not that impressed with the MF collection so far and don't agree with the positive comments here", and/or at least specified that i hadn't checked out the cymbals. again, sorry.

feel free to not read my posts then, it's really that simple ;). i have no inclination at all to make you feel warm and snugly about my opinions, and in no way whatsoever... other than in your own imagination... was my comment "antagonistic". not even in the unclear, incomplete form i first typed it. not being antagonistic now either... just matter-of-fact regarding my opinion. even if it's regarding a very subjective topic, it's still my opinion.

speaking of antagonism, how passive-aggressive was your post? C'mon... not even addressing me directly, but speaking about me in third person, being highly critical, and then laughing it off as a "passing comment"?? By the standard of "sweetness" to which you appear to want my comments held, i'd say "very".:bah:

Yep. the only way to get worse than slates cymbals is to go to zildgians webiste and record their samples from the site and try to use them. He shouldnt even attempted to have cymbals and just sampled drums and called it a day. That kontakt 3.5 player is pos too. well i guess the real only way to get worse is if Id done it but you get the point. toontracks rules.

my cymbals sound pretty damn good. Post a mix Bloodroot, maybe its your mixing skills that is the issue since there are a ton of metal demos using my cymbals that sound great. these mp3s below are pretty killer sounding all with SSD cymbals and good mixers...

Looking forward to that mix Bloodroot..

I'm getting off topic. I'M STILL HAVING PROBLEMS ROUTING KONTAKT STEVE. Please, walk me through it, Cubase 4. Thank you.

Also, I use metal foundry. I'll attempt to make some clips tonight.

Thank you. I thought I was going deaf for a little while there.

=D

I have it. The snares are horrid sounding. Really, I can't believe how bad they are. As you said, VERY demo/garagey sounding in vibe. Don't know why. The kicks do nothing for me but I guess they could work in the right context.

The cymbals, are very cool and good sounding, BUT, the Superior VSTi has never been stable enough for me, tbh.

On the other hand, I've gotten the Slate cymbals to sound quite good on my end. It takes some tweaking (definitely more than any of Superior's OHs) but I like the vibe they give using the NRG room. Compliments the SSD sound set very well.

Oi.

I recorded a quick litle cheesy riff mix thing today replacing Metal Foundry's kick and snare to illustrate why Slate pwns Metal Foundry's Drums (mind the sloppy playing):

NO DIFFERENT PROCESSING IS APPLIED! It is identical both times minus the drumagog insert.

Hhhhhmmmmm ...... A kick and snare were replaced! Wow, that so makes SSD pwn MF! Have you tried processing MFs kick and snare? Some here have with "fantastic" results.
Dude, they are both great! One pwning the other? Cmon!

Why is that good..? You wouldn't ever use the same processing on two completely different sources o.0

That said, I don't think any of the drums in MF sound good (you can make them sound 'decent' it seems but that needs a lot of parallel compression and everything ends up really small-sounding), but the cymbals are incredible. DFHS and S2.0 have the best sounding drums, imo, but I haven't owned any so I'm just judging from listening to others' clips.

hmmmm I posted to this once and it disappeared. Let me try again.
Mr Slate. You are correct. I'm sure its mostly my skill. I do not argue that one bit. I just think you could have lots more happy customers and sell more boxes if it was better than average out of the box. I will say your drum samples, there are none better. Your ride and hihats are fine too. I just cant get your crash cymbals to sound crisp and like breaking glass. they always have the swoosh, wishywashy sound. They always sound like drum machine cymbals like the old alesis sr16 or something which in my mind that is all I can focus on listening to my clips. My apologies for being so negative and disrespectful. I'm sure it is hard to please all the people all the time. Nut that is what sells more boxes, making it easy to use. The novice should be able to get great sound out of it without getting a degree in engineering. As far as a slate recording. I don't have one. I'm still trying to learn by making crappy clips. I wish I had your samples earlier though. Here is a toon track recording i made awhile ago. I needed your snare, bassdrum and tom samples bad and skill too. Here you can listen to me and criticize back. Be prepared for your ears to be raped. Its bad.
