Anyone using Metal Foundry ?

FWIW, I've been working with the regular S2.0, tweaking it and getting it ready for my EP which I'm nearing the completion of, and after replacing the kicks I'm fucking loving everything about it, I see no reason to even bother with MF! (unless of course you want the variety or the rawer/"dirtier" sounds that people are saying it has - but what I'm getting at is for good ol' metal drums regular S2.0 is working great for me! After some tweaking of course :D)

Well, Ive heard a lota clips using both, and I must say, they are both awesome!
I think the Slate stuff sits better for your "slow rock" kinda metal, ala killswitch, paramore, attack attack etc, but for death metal, grindcore, where the beats are much quicker and more precise, superior edges it out.
Slate for ballads and melodic metal, Superior for the tougher stuff.
Both are great, and I am glad both companies gave us a product like that, but to have someone say, "Slate pwns MF and I'll show you why!" is absurd. Thats why ya get the sarcasm mate.
We have here what we call a "Dickhead of the year award!" (stems from quotes people have made during the year) and Lolz, you are winning at the moment, its only September, so hang in there mate! :loco:

That's a pretty bold statement considering the fact that I haven't personally attacked anyone on here. The nastiest I've seen people act is toward James Murphy and that seems a little retarded considering he was a member of one of the best and most original metal bands ever and is a professional producer/engineer.

Last time I checked, I wasn't being offensive toward anyone. It seems like some people on this forum aren't mature enough to have a meaningful conversation.

Since we're only talking about drum samples it's probably safe to say that things got a little needlessly out of control. Just chill, shake hands, let this be the end of the thread. Not much more to be said. A few of us aren't impressed, a few of us are - it's all good.

I was personally hoping that MF would have raw sounds that could be processed into slate-esque super fat, radio drums, but it seems that they are tuned way too high and captured a little oddly. Definitely for something else altogether.

Well said Ermz.

I like MF a lot and think it's really really useable. I think it is possible to get a very modern metal drum sound out of it. Whish I could prove that :)

More sarcasm. I used a preset to make this illustration. I'm going to do a much more in depth test soon.

Yes do that. Make sure you have the snare and kick at the same volume on both libraries, or I'll be sarcastic again. ;)

This "discussion" is similar to Mac vs PC and it's plain stupid, because the libraries aim for different purposes. MF = programmed drums that sounds like real miked drums. SSD = huge sounding drums for mixes.

Those that uses both gets the best pro results in my book. For James and others who use real recorded cymbals, SSD is the obvious library to use, augmenting real drums.

Save money, buy both.

You were in DEATH and TESTAMENT? Wow. :OMG:

I also see the records you have produced, I love the production of Fragmentary Evidence, and a Diamond For Disease is one of my favorite records, and it has a very cool guitar tone. You also worked with Wooten :zombie:

Keep up the awesome work!
