I use 5 different instances of DFHS:
1 for Kick (DW)
1 for Snare (Ludgwig 5 on C&V)
1 for hats (Zildjian 2 on C&V)
1 for toms (Sonor)
1 for cymbals (cant remember but it's a combination of C&V and DFHS)
The bulk of the signal is the close mikes, but blend in the overheads and room mic to taste. The separation is to control how much I can blend the room and o/heads. I use the split mics on cymbals as well.
