Hmm..I've never even seen a //e.
I'm thinking it has Appletalk, yes? Well, if that is the case, I believe you can get an Appletalk-ethernet adapter, which might be enough to get things going. I must admit though that this is a tough one, as I really don't know anything about the //e's at all.

there is a decent FAQ about it:
To get Appletalk running on a //e, you will need a //e Workstation
card, which provides an Appletalk port, and the associated software,
which is bundled with it. That way, you can connect to an Appletalk
network and use shared drives and/or printers. Once that is ready,
install the Appletalk software.
