Thread title says it all. Please tell me of your experiences with the MD441 to help me decide whether I should get one or not.

Its wierd... I really like that mic and have used it a lot, but I always seem to go back to old faithfuls such as 57 or 421 instead, or using it in a place where you feel bad for using such an expensive mic, like bottom snare or hihat.

great mic though, but it's never truely rocked my world and given me a fucking hell i love it moment, like say the first time i used an Audix D6 on kick!

Thank you for your opinion. Seems like I will skip that mic since I'm already getting some classic mics like the sm57, md421 and c414.

A lot of people like the 441 on the floor tom or the snare bottom. I've only used one once a long time ago so I can't really give you any good insight, but for almost $900 spent on that mic you'd be better served buying a couple 421's and 57's. The difference in sound quality isn't going to be that noticeable, if at all.

Yeah I agree. The studio I work out of has a shit ton of mics, including a 441. I NEVER use it. Maybe something's wrong with it, but it doesn't sound as good as the 421's, 57's or sm7's to me. For the price I would look at something else. Like an SM7 or RE20 or something.

I fucking hate the mic clip design on that mic.

QFT. Sennheiser sucks balls at mic clip design. I'm pretty sure everybody here has dropped a 421 once or twice as well while trying to adjust it. That damn release button is in a horrible spot.

SO many times!!!!
when ever i set up 421s on toms, Now i actually set up the mic clip, and the lead and position them, and then at the last minute, put the mic on....
