I am in the market for one and I see there are two different head sizes. Are there any differences outside the size? At the moment I am looking at the short head because I believe this is the one that can easily be pulled out of the head caseing and rackmounted (which is what I want to end up doing).

I believe they are the same. The only difference would be certain tone controls on the back, and the rack mountable option for the short head like you said.

With that said, there are two different generations of Mark IVs, A and B I believe. If you head over to Harmony Central or Rig-Talk you can find out more about them there.

Great amps! As long as you set them right. (Remember to set the bass and mid KNOBS very low or at zero.)

Looking at what pictures I can find it looks lke the front panels are different. The wide body looks like it has two buttons on the right side that the short body does not have. I have to find some better pictures to confirm.

Yeah, there's a difference in the layout. I don't remember which controls those are- I've only owned the Mark IV A long head- but the short head shares all the same controls, just on the back panel.
