Arjen Lucassen says:
"I read in an interview that Dan considered me one of his influences. So I began listening to his music (Nightingale) and immediately loved his warm, dark voice. We e-mailed for a while and at some point I asked him whether he would be interested to be a part of Star One. He didnt need a long time to think about it! Dan had a lot of his own ideas; he had even recorded everything at home first, so he had worked everything out already. Unfortunately he couldnt join us on tour because he was working on a Nightingale album. Hes a very talented man and we will definitely hear a lot more from him in the future."
Cool, no?

Also there's a blank page where Dan can make a comment regarding his participation in Star One.
It would be more than amazing if Dan appeared on the new Ayreon album. Star One was the best thing of Lucassen since Into the Electric Castle in my opinion.
