This is like Cradle of Filth - Dusk and Her Embrace without the keyboards. I'm not just talking about the vocals (although that is a big chunk of it), I'm talking about the riffs as well. Minus awesome basslines of course, say what you will about Crabapple of Felch, that dude Robin Graves was a monster.

It's not bad, and neither is that album, but it's not amazing. You fuckers like whacked out vocals like this but can't handle the AWESOME PROWLING MACHINE that is the new Deathspell Omega? Fail.

Well, there's a lot less things to annoy one with this here Arkha Sva, even Dusk can get pretty grating at times, and hey, that's the one CoF I still like... on occasion.

I listened a second time, this isn't bad stuff at all, but outside of the vocals, it seems pretty standard fare. Average to above average yes, but that's not enough for me. When I already have 20 albums like this, I need more than quirky vocals to get hooked. I need the HDTV of black metal as it were. :Spin:

Okay I'm on the third listen now, am going to wait for this magical 1:30 riff that I missed both other times.

Hmm. It's a good riff, but all I feel is "pretty okay," and that's all she friggin' wrote. I think these dudes aren't for me.

Thing is, those falsetto vocals last for about 3.7 seconds in the entire 8 minute song so they're irrelevant to the rest of the song. It's kind of odd why some people are fixated on that.

Those specific riffs I identified, and all the compositions sitting around it, are what sells me on the entire song. Fuck me. It's just a very very well written piece of black metal, and its eccentricity is something that can only have emerged from the radioactive pits of Nippon.
