Ash body/ Maple neck, 6 string?

After playing the Loomis C7 FR, a friend of mine is looking for a guitar with these basic specs. He's quite fond of maple fretboards, too, but that's secondary to the body wood.

Any ideas on companies who make a guitar with these woods regularly? Schecter doesn't seem to do anything else with the wood, and he doesn't like the Gibson Swamp Ash Studio.

Fender definitely.

I think Parker makes an ash body, PRS makes one, lots of custom builders.

What about a Warmoth custom?

I think capuring the sound of that guitar would be more about just using EMG's than anything else.

It was more than simply the sound... that thing has sustain! I heard the 707's are based on 85s... any truth in that?

I kinda know what makes him tick... He'll turn his nose up at a Fender, he'll think Parker's are ugly, and he won't like the single coil and the bolt-on ness of the PRS.

Yes, he's a snob... But ruling out these models will hopefully just make him take other stuff into consideration. I'm trying to get him to get a Carvin, to be honest.

Well he was looking at PRS's, but every one we've played has been crap. I guess neither of us really like the necks on them...

I can see him getting an ESP, over practically anything else. His budget is probably around £1,500.

Anyone know any UK luthiers?

Carvin is definitely up there, they're so, so good looking. I'm loving the CT6M (M standing for Mahogany, I'm guessing), and I think he does too, but that doesn't come with Ash Body and Maple neck options. I've sent an email to Carvin asking if they can do one in Ash. I've wanted a DC272 for a while now, so one of them is definitely on my list, anyway. I may pick up a CT6 myself one day... they're just beautiful guitars.
