Yeah, so now that I have a garage for the first time in my life, I can actually do fun stuff like play drums/store dead bodies. What I was wonderin was if the drum majorettes here could give me some advice as to whether it's feasible for a 32 year old to start playing drums. Considering I already have musical aptitude (played bass and still noodle around on guitar occasionally), would it take me along time to become proficient to the point where I don't sound like a retard? That's probably impossible to answer so maybe it'd be easier if I posed it like this:

A) Forget it. Drums are impossibly hard to learn and in five years, you'll still suck
B) Do it. It's not that hard to get to a point where it's not frustrating

check out my message to you: if susan boyle can do it then so can you

Yea, just go for it. If you have the space/time/money then your set. Your skills and improvement are dependent on how much time you can commit.

Jonathan, let me be brutally clear with you. Your withered, frail, antiquated physiognomy simply does not have the energy to beat down on skins, as would a young 29 yr old in their prime. Why did you have to wait so long?!?!

i started playing about 3 years ago but only really got started like 6 months or so ago and now i'm pretty good, well i'm not good but i can play fast as hell

I wanna marry this guy (after I marry Edward Norton and Nemtheanga)

from what i hear, its not THAT hard to get decent at drumming but it is VERY hard to be very good. So, don;t expect to be the next Dennis Chambers or anything.

That's the one instrument I have always pined to play but never had anywhere to do it. Fantastic drumming/rhythm section is a fucking prerequisite for me to highly enjoy anything.

It's silly to quantify "talent" and whatnot in this manner really I suppose. It is not extremely difficult to become fairly competent with playing drums, however this is still quite different from being "good" at playing them.
