there was never any tremendous hype around MA, but this new direction I think will work in their favor in the end.

however I saw them a few times live both with Tucker and Vincent and they sound good live but they never blew me away as a live band; visually.

reality check for everyone in these days of shit wimping out and people growing old: this is what actual metal sounds like, if something tries to pass off as metal but does not really sound like this (new morbid angel,) it is probably FALSE METAL and BAD MUSIC. caveat emptor.





also, man, the lyrics on this are so bleak. i have loved this album for a long time but i never really cared to read the lyrics, but now i have and they're pretty good

pretty good and loaded with meaning, as they are on Passage, then the band really went downhill for some reason both on the music and lyrics sides. The latest album this time genuinely attempts to resume ties with the CoO/Passage era but only manages to reconstitute the outer shell. It sounds right but is not good.
