[AUDIO] Testing a new mix

I'm find the snare to be a bit too loud at the start, before the chorus guitar part. Just a little bit though. It's a great sounding snare though!

Really nice song!

But I can't stand the superior 2 kick :erk: . Try putting less velocity to the kick, I found it sounds better without lot of velocity, IMO.

Yeah, I hate the kick too. I'll try that, thanks! A problem I see in this is that I have to change the velocities even more manually. I got my Ins. vel. set to 119 at the moment.
With Insert Velocity I mean, when I add a note the standard velocity will be 119.

Now to the actual question: In cubase sx3, can I assign a certain midi note to have a different ins. velocity? Or perhaps there's a plugin that could do a similar thing?
Example: The kick has 90 as standard, snare has 119, hihat 110.
That would make my editing much easier.

Hope someone understood what I asked for...

EDIT: Not really the solution I was looking for but you can have five different insert velocities that you can switch between with a keycommand.
I chose: alt+1, alt+2, alt+3, alt+4, alt+5. This works too but I need to remember to change = alot of redoing...

Dude I love this song. Probably a bit too Opeth-y but thats never a bad thing :D Love the snare, coming from a guy who freaks every time he hears snares rattling, although it is a little loud as has been said, but then its too soft (soft volume-wise and velocity-wise at 2:20 onwards). Are there vocals coming? I want more of this stuff, it really is fantastic.

Yeah, I just wanted to try my axe-fx in a song. So I did a quick one with some of my usual "riffs". The outro turned out really epic though, that's my favorite part definitely.
I should've gone with some higher velocities at the semidistorted parted(I believe I used 100). But I didn't want it to be as hardhitting as in the outro. The extra layers drowns out the snare in the outro, it got the same velocity as in the intro.

I will not do any vocals, I'm too crappy to even bother writing/recording anything. If someone want's to add some vocals, do it. Just send me the raw track so I can mix it, I want to practice mixing vocals. :)

No, I don't, I don't write any lyrics or phrasings because I don't have the skills or the courage to record it. It's probably for the better.. The few times I've tried to write lyrics they tend to get incredibly cheesy.
