Any of you guys worked out how to put effects on busses yet with v1.2? Ive sussed out the paralell thing with the drum buss but when I put effects on the gtr buss for example Im getting latency??? :ill:

Cheers

I got great results on a 20 track project. I am pretty sure you have to set all the audio tracks outputs to an AUX track that has nothing but time ajuster on it. Then your sends (if you have any) to another aux with ATA on the first insert slot (A).

When you ping you need to bypass all sends. Make sure your aux tracks have ATA set to AUX, make sure all audio is set to audio (default) and make sure master is set to master.

I was having issues as well till I found that you need to bypass all sends. Also, bypass anything exstreme that will warp the impulse all to hell as well. Latency times should stay the same even with the plug bypassed.

Hope that helps.

Thanks guys

If I dont put plugins on my sub busses ie. gtr buss, bass buss ect then ATA v1.2 works perfect. Its when I put a couple of UAD-1 plugins or a plugin with a large latency, then you can really hear that buss dragging!

I know I can use plugins with little or no latency on these sub busses but that would be compromising and Id rather use my regular UAD-1 's ect.

Ive got an important mix next week and Im hoping I can suss it out by then.

Cheers

ya GT I'm pretty sure I wrote a tutorial on it last month. :p

1.2 is different

I'm still at the point where I won't use plugins with latency just so I don't have to deal with the compensation.

Ive just done a couple of searches but cant find your tutorial AudioGeekZine! :ill: Can you point me to it please buddy.

Cheers

it's a bit different now that ATA 1.2 is out now.

Download the example sessions and look at the comments boxes for help.

Plugins that change the sound need to be bypassed, as do all sends.

Thanks AudioGeekZine. Yeah, Ive done all that and ATA works perfectly on my mix but as you said, v1.2 is a different. I understand the parallel buss thing but my only problem is when I put a heavy plugin on a sub mix buss like the gtr buss Im getting latency. Once thats figured out Ill be flying!

Thanks man.

if you read the comments there are certain busses you can't add plugins to, at least with this version of the plugin. Gary is working really hard to get updates to us weekly.

My mixing workflow uses submixes and parallel compression.

bass tracks go to master, and send to the 'crush bus'
guitars output to a guitar bus, and possibly send to reverb or delay
vocals to the master, send to reverb and delays
drums out to a submix, parallel compression, and reverb

right now with ATA 1.2 you can't put plugins on submixes, because the individual tracks have already been adjusted
on my submixes I usually always have some compression and sometimes eq.

Things will get easier, I don't have a lot of use for the plugin right now, but if I get a UAD card or a liquid mix then I would be using this a lot.
