So heres my question to you guys. How do you get your cds signed? I mean do you bring cds from the most recent lineup (ie last year I only brought Hunters and Prey and Rebirth for Angra cos I didnt wanna be an ass and thrust Angels Cry in Edus face) or do you bring EVERYTHING the band has done? I mean like for Rage this year I'll have to bring everything I have since Peavys the only mainstay. Or also, do you have band members sign stuff on older albums they didnt play on? I personally dont just cos well I dont know how they feel if someones like "Sign this please" and theyre thinking "ok uh I guess, I didnt play on it but sure whatever man".

Just curious.

I just went to NEARfest and gave a CD cover to Roine Stolt from The Flower Kings to sign and he then passed it to Jonas Reingold, the bass player, who did not play on that particular CD and he handed it back to me and says in a rather pissed off sounding voice "I didn't play on this". It was kind of funny.

To answer your question... I just bring my favorite album covers.

I can't give you any definitive info as I am not affiliated with PP4, but from my experience, just stick the CDs of your fave bands in your pockets along with a marker (paint pen is even better) and look for them. Many bands will go to their booths etc. (they did at PP2) and talk to fans.
Of course you want to be nice to them, as they are working their butt off for you, but at the same time don't be scared to ask them to sign any CD by them. It is not their job to deal with fanse, but rather to be live entertainers when asked to do so. More often than not though, most bands will enjoy signing their work for the fans as that is just good for business and most also enjoy being appreciated.

Yes, paint pens kick ass!! But while they may turn out sexy (like my Edguy cds last year) they can also smear sometimes, like my Angra did. I guess they didnt hear me when I said "they take a couple seconds to dry so please dont put them on top of anything" ahahhaha oh well, my friends i even worse from Kreator, they signed it and then jammed it back in the jewel case so now the entire front artwork is a silver mess.

[In my opinion the best way to get autographs at Progpower (and I am no expert mind you) is to do what I did last year. To save space only take the inner sleeves of the cd's you have with you to the show along with a package of mulicolor sharpies (those silver markers are too messy!). This way you can have fun at the show, be able to store them comfortably, and be able to pull them out at will to have signed. I like to bring the old vinyls as well but get them signed outside the hotel if possible because their mighty bulky. Actually had Kai Hansen sign the vinyl Helloween EP last year as well as the vinyl of The Kai Hansen Project (later Gamma Ray). Hope it helps!!
