Avantasia- Wastelands (with Kiske)

Agreed - I don't see how these could be legit.

Nuclear Blast (the actual label) has the box set for ~ $42, but then you have the shipping

Nuclear Blast USA has it for $52.

Century Media has it in the $50's...

Don't see how a third-party seller could be selling the real thing for $20 (We're talking about the box set)

I'm not talking about the song itself but by the way it starts off at the first. It kinda reminds me of the song that Steve Vai played for the Bill and Teds Bogus Journey movie at the end of the movie. Just that kind of feeling :)

I don't know. I agree I had my reservations about taking a risk, but ultimately I don't care. I pay my money, I take my chance.

Frankly I don't see why this box set is so expensive in the first place. I mean, I get it, it's a double album and it's limited edition, but who are we kidding here? This shouldn't be selling anywhere for more than about $35 US dollars. I expect to get angry responses about that - I realize that distribution people have no real control over this issue and I'm not criticizing those who paid the full prices for it - I just don't see WHY it has to be so expensive in the first place.

I completely agree.

I really want these albums, but I just don't see myself dropping $50-$60 on them.. Unfortunately, I don't have that kind of money to spend right now. I do hope to get them eventually though..

I saw it on Impulsemusic.com for 22.99 but have never ordered from them. I looked on the vendor we use at my work and the cost alone is 50.29 with a list price of 74.99, I am pretty sure based on how many times I have listened to the tracks that are online I will be splurging and trying to get this.

I recommend buying CDs from Impulse. But as I said earlier about online vendors where I received the Mexican version, Impulse was one of them. I tend to stay away from them with the limited version of CDs but I do buy from them on regular disks.

I don't know your situation and I don't want to tell you how to spend your money, but you can buy them individually instead of the box set for about $12-15 each. The only thing you would be missing is a booklet that has more pictures and a code for 'exclusive' download content. Which who knows what that that would be.

I just bought it from that Ebay seller, the feedback is extremely good so I'd be surprised if it weren't legit. I also found another Ebay store that has it for the same price (I've actually ordered from them in the past, no problems)...in fact, I think it may be a related store. I haven't heard any samples other than one song, but considering I dig every Avantasia album, this is a blind buy I feel very comfortable with :)

I've bought CDs before from Impulse and haven't ever had any problems. Their shipping costs can be a little steep in my opinion, especially when your order doesn't arrive very fast. As far as the products go, I don't have any complaints.

With that said, if a U.S. distributor ever sent me a Mexican version of anything, it would be sent back and a phone call would be made to that vendor! That's total B.S. if that actually happens to people!

I'm going to be honest - I don't really care that much if I get a Mexican import. Provided it has all the proper content, I actually don't really care if its somewhat shoddily made. It's basically just going to sit on my shelf. I have the mp3s in my player, and the lyrics will be online probably the day it comes out. I'm going to look through it a bit in the beginning, but after that it's probably just gonna sit. No offense to the product, that's just the way it goes. So if I can save $20, why not?

Absolutely. I just think a couple of us were trying to give you guys a heads up just in case it did bother you. I know it would bother me and has. With certain bands I don't want to take the risk any more and I'll spend the extra money. And it's not just with music, I have bought some things online that looked like a good deal and ended up not really being one. Just looking out for you guys. :kickass: Hopefully you don't get a cheaper one and this guy is legit. He seems to have some good deals on other CDs so let’s hope.

To get back on topic of these CDs. I am really getting excited to get these. The past 2 disks (so basically everything but the first) didn’t really do anything for me besides a couple of songs and I'm hoping these will be better.

I should be getting the Mexican imports early next week. I will post links to pics and a full review for those that are curious of the pressing and its quality.

EBAY!!! User ID Chuff000 and metalpinss provided above about "buying off ebay" is a "FRAUD". There are multiple listing from Oscar (Chuff000) and his group under these two ebay names. If you purchase this version, it comes as a mexico bootleg with cardboard flimsy covers and nothing compared to the Germany Limited Edition Nuclear Blast has provided.

In the past, we've run into this guy (formerly Scarecrow Records) many times under different names, sending us one-sheet info to order for less. Their copies are bad so you will want to stay clear. They have contacts that sell out of Canada but import from L.A. via Mexico.

ROFL@ZANE!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been dealing with Oscar for YEARS! He's a standup guy and everything I have ever got (well over 100 cd's) there have been no problems. And it's not a bootleg when the person acquires a license for it and personally manufactures it for distribution. Get your facts straight Zane!

I got mine yesterday. I'm not gonna lie - the quality is not the best as has been warned against - but as I've already mentioned, I don't really care. Including shipping I paid $21, which is less than I would've spent to walk out and buy both of these discs separately at a standard retailer in a month when they eventually got them in. The only thing I think sucks about the packaging is the aforementioned flimsy cardboard sleeve, that's about it. Somewhere I CAN'T imagine the differences, whatever they are, were somehow worth the $30 price difference. I don't regret my decision.

I ended up getting the "Mexican bootleg" and the CM version of the new Unleashed (I'm a bonehead and ordered one without realizing I ordered the other about a month ago) anyway... I wanted to see what the difference was so I opened both. The only difference is on the back: the track listing is shown differently, and the "bootleg" says "Nuclear Blast under license to Scarecrow Records" instead of "Manufactured and distributed by Nuclear Blast USA."

A bootleg? I highly doubt it. And I've also ordered from this guy before with 0 problems (and so have around 15000 others according to his ebay rating).

Anyway, my 2 pence.

(any want the digi copy of the new Unleashed for 10 beans shipped?) :goggly:
