I live on the other side of the world so i don't have the luxury of being able to compare these 2 bands on any basis other than the CDs i have of theirs.
By Forbidden:-
"Forbidden Evil"....\m/ Superb \m/...8/10
"Twisted Into Form"....2 or 3 trax as good or better than anything on "Forbidden Evil" BUT, overall, not as good an album....6/10
"Distortion"....anyone wanna buy a "hardly used" CD?....3/10

By VIO-Lence:-
"Eternal Nightmare"....\m/ Kixass \m/...7/10
"Nothing To Gain"....no regrets buying it....6/10
"Oppressing The Masses"....\m/ Classic \m/....8/10
...throw in the EP "Torture Tactics"...\m/ Yeah! \m/ for good measure and VIO-Lence kinda win easily! Even the Torque s/t album is a good listen. Any truth to the rumour there might be more Vio-Lence material to come?

All the same, geographical similarity aside, I never would've thought to compare these bands.

Scroll down & find the Vio-Lence News Thread, that I started, it has the latest on their new material & re-releases of Enternal Nightmare.............

Personally, I have the Torque s/t demo, and I didn't care for it....

However, I really dig Forbidden's Distortion... Green is pretty good, but reflective of their whiney bitch ass attitudes about being dropped and not being able to find a label, and everything else they wanted to complain about.

:D After 8 years it's probably almost time I dusted the cobwebs off it and gave it another spin.

Yeah, well I didn't like it when I first heard it, actually I hated it.

Odd how that happens. Distortion is pretty damn good... definitely not as heavy, but it's some good melodic/progressive/thrash... :D

Sure IS odd. I'll be fuct! 8 years on and the "for sale" sign is down and Distortion is now 5/10. That's after one listen on it's own, followed by the gruelling acid test of being in the random 5 disc mode. (In this particular case being mixed with Dimension Zero, The Project Hate, Mezarkabul, and Darkane). OK, so it may be the weakest link, BUT, To hold up its 20% of the responsibility is a damn good effort!

Well some of us live on the east coast so we werent spoiled by seeing these bands play together and play all the time at local clubs. I saw Forbidden on the Forbidden Evil and Twisted into Form tours back in the day. Those were the only 2 times they ever came to the east coast until they reformed for the Distortion record. Forbidden were a top notch live band. Russ Anderson is one of the best alltime metal vocalists.
Violence came out east 3 times. 2x for Eternal Nightmare (in fact the 1st time was the first night of their first tour and it was with Testament (July 6th 1988) and again with Voivod that November. They also came in September of 1990 for Oppressing.
Violence were also a top notch live band and along with CORONER the best live band to see IMO.
Personally I am a bigger OVERALL fan of Eternal and Oppressing than I am of Forbidden Evil and Twisted even though I love those 2 albums as well, but I would have to say that IMO musically Forbidden were the better band and Russ the better singer. When Twisted into Form came out I couldnt wait to see them play that shit live.
Either way both bands totally kick ass!
Seeing them at TOTT last summer was such a huge thrill for me.

Listen to it straight thru a few times.... not neccessarily at the same sitting.... I think it's a good 6 or 7/10 album... though definitely more on the prog side.
