Badass death metal backing track!!

Well if anyone still doubted the quality of DFHS after hearing that, they would be a very hard to please metalhead.

Actually I will speak out and say I'm really not into DFHS at all. I like some of the cymbals, so I've ripped them into my Battery kit. I don't like being locked into DFHS's proprietary plug-in instrument (which is buggy still) and I don't like most of the pieces of the kit. Call me picky, but I'm also not too nuts about Meshuggah's production as of late, I think their earlier CDs sound better (Destroy Erase Improve and Chaosphere in particular.) I also prefer my original DFH disc from 2001 to the DFHS stuff. Call me crazy!

Whoever programmed this particular beat is good, I'd be more interested in their MIDI.

Someone who doesn't know how to play drums and hasn't listened to songs with drum parts in mind can make some extremely crappy programming.

It's kind of cool but I don't really like the sound at all. Is it just me?

Hahaha.

This is my drum track. I have had no real problems with DFHS, in terms of bugs, and I've had it since it first came out (pre-order). Some features were missing in the beginning, but Toontrack have been listening to their customers and have been implementing some of them in their updates. Obviously different systems might have different issues, but personally I've always been happy with it. :)

As for the kit being overpowering and the cymbals getting lost, those drum settings are pretty much ripped directly from a demo for my band. So the settings are basically designed for a full-mix sound.

The snare sounds the way it does because I like my snares to be clear, even in blasting. I'm not really a fan of that kinda flat, processed, 80s "thud" snare sound. There's also the fact that it's designed around my own guitar sounds 'n' whatnot, which are pretty big on the midrange area, so the snare sounds like that so it's actually heard amongst everything else.

So yeah, the sounds work for me, and that's what I went with. Not everyone can like the same sounds, so it's pretty hard to know how to make your drum tracks sound when you do a jam track like this, not to mention that you're basically "mixing" it without the rest of the mix to work with.

Dude, whats your bands name, im in Melbourne too. Your project reminds me of something ive heard from a dude called Jason.....i wont mention his last name, but he's an Engineer at JMC, would you be the dude who's stuff he's mixing?

Nah, that'd have to be someone else.

My band's called Scelerius, and we're very much still getting off the ground. We started a while ago, but so far I've been the only one writing music, so progress has been slow. Only just recently found a possible drummer, and just tonight we kicked out our vocalist. Hahaha, yeah, we've got problems... :yell:

DNW, hope you don't mind that I posted the track!! I think it's really good. I'm gonna jam on it today as soon as exams are over...Maybe I can contribute to the jam.

Nah, it's no problem. The track was made for people to jam over, so feel free to spread it around, and don't forget to put up your own clip too! ;)
