basically brutal death metal with the prominently layered vocals and occasional melodies weaved within the guitar work. . . AND NO!! I don't mean Aeon, either. They really don't fit all that well for me.

nifty deathgrind, while not what I'm looking for that's a great band to listen to. .

Paths of Possession

doesn't really sound anything like VR or Deicide. . .

Hypocrisy

already have them as well, nothing much to say.

Opeth (old-mid era)

proggy death metal . . . ? don't know where you were going with that one.

God Dethroned

blackened death, they seem a bit more like a modern day Angelcorpse than Deicide or VR, not exactly what I'm looking for

Kronos

Greek brutal/tech death, but I already have them

Decrepit Birth

I really don't like this band at all, could never get into them

Look for a demo called Call The Ancients by the Spanish band called Desecrate. Very similar to Deicide's self-titled. Not to be confused with the 7 or so other metal bands by that name. It's online somewhere, don't know the site off the top of my head.

Luciferion. Their first album is very reminiscent of Deicide. Their second album takes more of a melodic approach but is still awesome none the less.

both Hate and Hour of Penance are excellent bands. The Vile Conception was an excellent album to me.
Lost Soul, however. . . never heard of them, they are a promising sounding band so far. Thanks, man!1
