I was wondering if they're bands which are pretty much influenced by kalmah? I'm searching for similiar bands a long time now but I can't find any really kalmah stylish bands -.- A friend of mine actually has a band which is very much influenced by kalmah: but that's the only one I know...
So does anyone know some? :D

Here is a reciprocal influence (each band influence the other, I think). Antti played for them some years ago...

There is this band called Children of Bodom that sounds a little like Kalmah... Actually, it is said that Kalmah copied their style.

Just kidding guys...

Lol, hidious made me laugh!
Just so this isnt spam i will contribute

Eternal tears of sorrow has actually changed their style alot since Antti left them! Kalmah FTW though!

Skyfire, particularly their first 2 albums Timeless Departure and Mind Revolution. However, their next two albums (and EP) are still worth checking out (and are better than their earlier material).

Norther is an obvious choice, check out Mirror of Madness. Their other material is meh.

Imperanon released one album called Stained about 6 years ago that is rather Kalmah-ish.

And maybe Omnium Gatherum's early material.

Norther has quite a few good songs... I have no clue why people keep praising Mirror of Madness, but look down on their other material.

On topic, Wintersun is quite an obvious choice. Not sure if they sound like Kalmah to you, but it's safe to say, if you like Kalmah, you like Wintersun.

I listen to a Swedish band called System Shock that sounds a little bit like Kalmah. http://systemshock.se

Give "Orbital" and "Devilwish" a play on their myspace page http://www.myspace.com/systemshockband. "Escape" is good too.

I've been Listening to this band for a few months called "SunLess Rise". I think they sound a tiny bit like Kalmah. You guys should check them out.

Here are a couple tracks:

That did kinda sound like Kalmah (keeping in mind nothing out there sounds exactly like Kalmah), especially some of the rhythms. I'm now a fan :)

I wish I could download their promo album from their myspace page. The link on there leads to a Russian site and I can't find the file.

I've got another band that sounds similar to Kalmah. It's 'Solerrain', and their new album. It's pretty awesome, and the album art is cool too. You guys should definately check these guys out.
Here's a few tracks.......

Amazing eternalswamplord, i enjoyed this! I didn't know most of them except for Profugus Mortis which are from Quebec.

When i look for new stuff these days, all i stumble upon is North American metal core which i despise.

@eternalswamplord:
I have that Lothlorien CD! It's gotta be pretty rare, as you are the first person I've ever seen mentioning it online. Whatever happened to those guys?

Nice man, I also have the CD. That album "The Primal Event" was their debut and only one released in 1998. They split up after that and the drummer, and two guitarists went to form a heavy metal band named Frequency.

Here are a few other bands that are similar to Kalmah....but no one can equal them! I think pretty much most of the other bands that are really close to Kalmah's sound have been mentioned.

Aeveron

2nd Suicide

Mors Principium Est

for the pirate in you....Alestorm. ok, maybe getting a bit to far away from Kalmah, but you might like them:)

omg eternalswamplord i have not heard of a single one of those bands anD THEY ARE SO AMAZING IM SO PUMPED IM GETTING ALL THEIR SONGS!!!.

u are my hero :worship:

I liked Skyfire's first 2 albums.. after that they just stunk it up in my opinion...

umm another good band is Ensiferum... if you like fast paced Kalmah songs, then you will like Ensiferum

Some really good stuff in here!
I haven't seen anyone recommend Insomnium, although I daresay you've already listened to them. They're not as speedy as Kalmah, but their melodies are incredible.
+1 for Ensiferum and Wintersun (Jari Maenpaa ftw :D)

the band Omnium Gatherum is awesome to, if you dont know them check them out! if you like kalmah you will like them ( there last 2 albums though) before that they had another singer, he wasnt that good in my opinion..

Just discovered this amazing band from Montreal: Obtenebris

Kickass song
