Bands similiar to Kalmah

the only band in this thread that was of any help at all is LUNARSEA and they are more of a overpassionate, italian Children of Bodom than a kalmah type band.

there really aren't any bands that come close to touching Kalmahs ability to weave harmonies and melodies in songs that don't get old over time. a lot of the other bands that are listed are worth listening to but don't come close to having the same staying power as Kalmah. i know this for a fact as i heard most of these bands as the cds were released and haven't even thought of them since then. but i still listen to kalmah a lot, all cds.

I know this band too. They are incredible. To me they resemble Wintersun more than Kalmah. But they have elements of both.
Great band. Everyone should them check out.

They sounds really interesting, thank you for showing us this band!

Hey guys, just wanted to share an amazing album i just discovered, from Belgium. The amount of emotions and goosebumps i get from some of these songs is unprecedented. The album Chanson de la Croisade tells the story of the Cathars persecution by the Catholic army, during the medieval period. The lyrics are so clear and powerful, i learned more from this album than any history class i had.

Here's my favorite song, about the Minerve siege that ended in the execution of 150 Parfaits. Very powerful, i feel like i'm there.

Another good one; This one is the last song and tells how it ended all for the "Heretics" in Montsgur.

And a bonus: this is the first song, about how it started.

I'm aware this may not be everybody's cup of tea, but for me, this is a must buy.

I just listened to the first song you posted and it was great. I shall check out more Lemuria. Hard to find info on them since there's another pop-rock band by same name.

Just discovered this band called Blackguard, from Canada. Sounds Kalmah-like to me so I'm posting it. Actually, sounds more like CoB, but whatever =P

I might go see them live this Sunday, along with Alestorm and Kamelot.
