Well, I don't listen to much music these days anyways but I usually opt to listen to Devin Townsend, Janne da Arc, B'z, Eric Johnson, Megadeth and Nevermore over Opeth. Kind burned out on the big O and metal in general.

Truthfully - there are no bands better than Opeth to me. Actually, there are no bands in the same league as Opeth, IMHO.
I don't really have a no. 1 band, but my favorites at the moment are Metallica, Dark Tranquillity, Orphaned Land, Agalloch, Nevermore, Pink Floyd, Subterranean Masquerade, Cea Cerin, Evergrey and Funeral For A Friend.
This really does change every few weeks, and I'm pretty sure that when I get my package from Amazon it will look a bit different.

Right now the best band in the scene is Agalloch. Now they have a much smaller body of work being only two current releases. However, they seem solid and may be now approaching their creative peak, much like Opeth with MAYH. Agalloch's best days are ahead of them, Opeth was good but now they are past thier prime IMO.
