Bass Pickup's

I've got a Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass that I'd like to give a bit of a boost to sound wise. What pickups would you guys recommend? Has to be single coils as that's all I can fit in there without routing and the like. Would like to try and get as heavy and crunchy a bass tone as possible.

i got emgs in my jazz bass, they sound great!!!
for a slightly cheaper option,kent armstrong are meant to make some j style single coils that rock....

Yeah, I think I might as well, kinda disappointed with the sound of my Vintage Modified Bass for more Metal stuff.
