Can't find much information on bass gear. Tons of info on guitar amps though. I need to buy a bass rig asap. Going to use it for rehearsal and live gigs. Been looking at trace elliot, marshall, ampeg etc. Will use it for metal.

What tones do you like? Is size/weight a concern?
Ampeg is great for traditional metal bass, GK will get you into tool-ish territory, aguilar will get you a cleaner take on the ampeg sound with more extension (high and low).

Size/weight is not a concern. Going to use it for 2 different bands, first band is more rock (deep purple / rainbow) second band is more progressive metal towards Symphony X. So something that fit both of these worlds.

I really like a Sansamp RBI + GK RB, sansamp on for metal, just the gk for rock/cleaner stuff. It's a fairly cheap rig.
