The album "Epitaph" by Necrophagist has what could be considered bass "solos" multiple times throughout. I don't recall exactly where at the moment but get the album anyway. It's worth it.

Yeah they're very impressive but I can't get too into them because their lack of songwriting and over the top technicality.
