Bass Tuning Question

I have an electric tuner and tune to EADG but then when I see some songs tuned in Drop D i try to get it near that deep growl sound, most people come over and say "hey you are out of tune" and try to put it in standard...everytime this happens, i tell them I am trying to get a heavier deeper sound out of it and they just end up putting the bass in standard anyway, I mean why does everyone think the bass has to be in standard tuning?...

It depends on what you have to do in that piece; if the bass is dropped you drop it..

he's got his own signature strings that are almost as thin as a guitar's. I ave that instruction dvd here, and it is really not helpful - only if you want to play along to his hyperbass-tunes. It is really a different instrument and has nothing in common with conventional bass playing.

it is solo stuff...:headbang:
