The correct pronounciation would be in hungarian... "baaat-horii" and you do not speak the "th" like an english "th" but as seperate letters. The proper spelling is "Bathóry" btw.
I never seen the "O" stressed on any of the album covers.. i still say it's pronounced baaaa-th-or-iiii ... even when they do documentaries and such of Countess Bathory such as on the History Channel or other channels.. they pronounce it with "TH" in the american style... <shrugs> ... oh btw i heard recently a movie will be made on the Countess... has anyone else heard similar news? ...

calm down Sorath cause i think your one of the cool ones that hang out in GMD forum lol .. I think it's just a matter of preference in the way it's pronounced.. Americans will always automatically pronounce it the way we see it in the "TH" .. I'm not sure if you are in the U.S. or not... but that is just how it is here <shrugs> ... as for Quorthon or Cronos.. it's their bands and I think they have their way of pronouncing it how they want it... to each his/her own..

No problems here, Unfaithfully Metalhead, and I too pronounce it 'the american way' wven though I know it's not correct. I just wanted to point out that the Goat was right and since he had good enough proof (Unless someone claim to know Hungarian very well and says he's wrong?) there's no reason to argue.

It depends whether you like black metal or not, since they started as a black metal band, evolving later towards a very different epic and viking approach.sixxswine said:

Everything up to Twilight of the Gods (Plus Blood on Ice) is compulsory, and from those you can decide what style you like best. Requiem and Octagon aren't bad at all, actually, but not nearly as good as the earlier ones and they're both thrash. Watch out for Destroyer of Worlds, and get Hammerheart, Blood on Ice and Twilight before the Nordland albums.

I read in the article in Guitar World, where they evolved from a Black Metal band to more this "Viking Metal" band. I "like" some Black Metal, obviously, it's nothing I wanna listen to day in day out, but it's good for a change of pace. I will look this band up. With all of you guys & gals on this board & all the various types of "heavy" that you listen to, it's great to discover bands.Fangface said:
