I personnaly think that not knowing David Bowie when you passed 10 yo is seriously worrying.

So do I, but then I remember all the kids who live in trailer parks in Oklahoma whose parents listen to nothing but Faith Hill and Tim McGraw 24/7, and realize that everyone is a product of their environment. You can't pity those kids - all you can do is educate them.

(P.S. I'm not stereotyping everyone from south of the Mason-Dixon line, I'm actually speaking from lived experience with my cousin's wife's family, who are natives of Texas, and some of the people my dad works with and used to work with in Florida. I do realize there are educated Southerners too.)
