Have you ever tried this little fella? How does it sound compared to Ts9/808?

I consider buying one instead of a Ts9 because it's cheaper (at least where I live) and it's true bypass. I'll use it to boost my e530's lead channel. I don't have a chance to try one and I couldn't find any useful review/comparison on the net.

ahjteam, I'm talking about TS9. BBE is around 100$ and TS9/808 is around 190$ in where I live. TS7 is definitely out of my options (cheap construction etc.) as well as out of stock.

Probably I'll get BBE just to try it out. In worst scenario, I'll have a 100$ crap sounding true bypass shit.

But they're all effectively the same I thought????

The Ibanez TS7 is a TS9. Period. It's in a cheaper-looking enclosure, but the circuit is a TS9. What does that mean? It means you don't have to spend $800 on a boutique TS9 handbuilt in the space station with exotic camel-spit capacitors imported one at a time from Buttfuckistan and a case hand-painted by the last known member of the Snickerdoo tribe of Native Americans. You can spend $40 on a TS7 and it's just as fucking good, end of discussion. Also... if you have trouble putting two and two together, the TS7 (just like the TS9, whodaguessed) can be modded to 808 specs with... that's right, chief, two bloody resistors.

I thought TS7 has the same circuit as TS9 but using different components, as Lasse mentioned in this thread.

Secondly, it's out of stock and last, I hate plastic cases. :ill: Well, this is not a TS7 vs TS9 war.

I've read anything but good things about BBE, some just loved it more than a TS. But since there are no clips of it, I'm looking to find some. If I can't find any, I'll buy one and make some. :D

I hate plastic cases too, but TS7 comes in a metal case :)

On the outside, Tone-Lok effects are equipped with our exclusive "set and forget" Push-Lok rotary pots. Push the knobs down and your tone settings lock securely inside the case. No more lost settings or knobs broken. On the inside, Tone-Lok pedals feature hi-fidelity components carefully tweaked with the constant input from a new generation of Ibanez players. And all this great stuff comes encased in cool looking, roadtough metal boxes at prices the working player can afford.

After what ahj said I'm definitely considering the ts7

I'm handy with a soldering iron but god awful with schematics, does anyone have a walk through or anything for installing the 808 mod?

:zombie: It looks like plastic! Anyway, I'll step into the music store area in the evening. I'll try to find and give a try to TS7 too. For the price, it can't be that bad at all.

Ok I´ve got a TS7 and a Maxon OD-808 and the TS7 is a incredibly sturdy, big block of metal. My Maxon costs twice as much as the TS7 and it crapped out once. Not a single problem with the TS7.

Bbe is perfect. I've used mine for 3yrs touring and in the studio without a single problem. A/b'd to a maxon and ibanez ts there's hardly a difference if any when boosting an amp. The difference certainly won't change your live sound or recorded tone drastically.

Thanks for your comments guys. Imma going for shopping nao! :D I'll post some clips with whatever I get when I'm back.

You could always go the BIY (build it yourself) route. They have all the parts and schematics for doing different variations including the SD-1, TS9 and 808. If you have a hand for soldering its relatively cheap depending on what you want (and you get a metal case that you can paint whatever you want.
